Jose Siri Excels as the Rays Defeat the Royals

May 11, 2023

Jose Siri of Tampa Bay produced four runs, starting pitcher Zach Eflin remained spotless at home, and the Rays rebounded from their opening loss to Kansas City, beating the Royals 11-3 in St. Petersburg, Florida on Friday night

In a 3-on-4 performance with two runs, Siri hit his 13th home run of the season.

Eflin (9-3) improved his record to 8-0 with a 2.17 era after eight home starts this year.

He did this by limiting the Royals to three runs and seven hits in six innings, striking out seven batters and walking two

Josh Lowe of Tampa Bay was 3-5 with one point. Taylor Walls was 2-for-4 with a double and two rbis, while Christian Bethancourt was 2-for-4 with a double, two points and an rbis. Manuel Margot and Harold Ramirez (two rbis) each scored two runs.

The Rays were 7-for-12 with runners in scoring position and reached a season high with 17 hits

They are 33-9 at home and 13-2 against the central opposition of the American League.

Salvador Perez of Kansas City hit a two-run home run and Nick Pratto hit a solo hit. Bobby Witt Jr. and Drew Waters got two hits each.

Zack Greinke (1-8) lost his fourth decision since his last victory on May 3. He allowed seven runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings, with one walkthrough and three strikeouts.

After Kansas City won a 6-5 victory on Thursday, he was back to start the second game in an early action with long balls.

On the second pitch of the game, Pratto set up a cleaver from Eflin to the right for his fifth home run.

However, Siri surpassed that effort with a deep boom in the second inning to bring the Rays up to 3-1 after Isaac Paredes and Bethancourt stood out in front of him

In third place, the Royals added their second home run. Witt pulled one hit off Eflin’s two-out balls, and Perez left the right-hander with his 15th save of the game.

After Siri scored her fourth run of the night with a single in the fourth inning, Ramirez ended Greinke’s night with a single with two outs in the fifth inning.
